Dick, Joseph I. – of Chesaning, died Thursday, January 2, 2025, in Florida. He was 88 years of age.
Joseph was born November 26, 1936, in Saginaw to the late Joseph and Amelia (Menzel) Dick and was a lifelong resident of the Chesaning area. He married to Shirley Coonrod Wendling on August 16, 1997. Mr. Dick retired from GM Truck and Bus with 37 years seniority. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Parish, the UAW Local #659, and St. Christopher Council #2943 where he was past Deputy Grand Knight. He was an avid gardener and loved his yard and flowers. He enjoyed playing his accordion, fishing, hunting and playing horseshoes. He spent his winters in his happy place, Jensen Beach, FL.
Surviving are: wife, Shirley; children: Joanne, Joyce, Carol, Thomas, Benjamin and Anthony; stepchildren: Mike Wendling, Michelle Vrable, Louise Wilson, Tammy Rieder, Anna Chrysler, Amy Sjoberg, and John E. Wendling; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Edward (Mary) Dick, and Mary Prchlik; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was also preceded in death by: grandson, Benjamin Dick; three infant sons: William, Joseph and Thomas; brother: John (Margaret) Dick; sister, Margaret (John) Prchlik; and brother-in-law, John Prchlik.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Thursday, January 16, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Fr. Andrzej Boroch celebrant. Burial to follow in St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery, Maple Grove. Visitation will be at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Wednesday from 1-8 pm where a Rosary will be prayed by the Knights of Columbus at 7 pm. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church from 10 am until time of mass at 11 am. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, Hospice House of Shiawassee or the charity of one’s choice.
